That’s not ‘really’ debunking socialism
We decimate the usual argument the Left tries to make in denying that a socialist nation was socialist.
Once again the inevitable failure of Left’s base ideology in the socialist nation of Venezuela has shown that it is a fraud from beginning to end. In light of this, we will run down the usual ‘debunking’ arguments made by the Left in the futile contention that it wasn’t really socialism.
The timing and the purpose of a Leftist ‘debunking’ argument
The usual timing of one of these pieces centres on the point where the usual brutality as well as failure can no longer be denied by even the Socialist-Left at large. In many cases this is an ongoing effort in regard to historic examples of socialistic failure, such as with the Far-Left Nazi regime or the USSR. In the case of the socialist nation of Venezuela, this became evident in the video of the GNB running over protesters with a tanqueta.
In most cases, the Left will try to create a false narrative that gradually morphs what was supposedly a functional socialist regime into something else. Then they will try to claim it was somehow ‘right-wing’ as in the case of Nazi Germany and before our very eyes in this example ‘debunking’ piece from the Pluralist.
The Leftist art form of pushing a lie with a headline editorial
The typical ‘debunking’ article will begin with a variation of the ‘that wasn’t really socialism’ false narrative. With the false implication that the current crop of Leftists will give it a go and finally reverse 400 years of failure. In the case of our prime example from the Pluralist https://pluralist.com/not-real-socialism-venezuela/ it places that tired old line: That’s Not ‘Real’ Socialism directly in the headline. Howbeit, one might wonder at the motivation of the author putting scare quotes around real, but the rest of the piece is a classic example of the ‘debunking’ art form.
It’s not a Leftist ‘debunking’ without a blatant ad hominem attack
In this our typical example doesn’t disappoint, taking a line from The Socialist Party ‘Anyone who thinks Venezuela has socialism is an ignoramus’ emblazoning as the subhead of the piece. Yes, there is nothing that will encourage a civil dialog more than starting off with like the childish school yard taut calling someone an ‘excrement’ head. The intent here is to intimidate anyone who might disagree with this opinion piece while denigrating those who know the facts of the matter.
Burying the Lede
It wouldn’t be a ‘debunking’ without the ‘facts’ that supposedly prove the case being buried down several paragraphs. This tactic is always coupled with stating of the alleged ‘facts’ directly in the headline. Most people will only read the headline and quickly move on, thus it doesn’t really matter if the point is proven or not. Alternatively, just the headline will be cited in a discussion for the very same reason. Burying the lede will leave the impression of the headline editorial without the pesky inconvenience of having to factually prove anything.
The red herring terminology change
As it typical of these situations, the creation of the false narrative will begin with the assertion that the country in question wasn’t really a socialist nation, but something else. Such as the case of claiming that Venezuela is a dictatorship, or a totalitarian regime.
This is what will happen here in the United States if @BernieSanders and @AOC get their way!
Thank God @realDonaldTrump is our Prez!#UnitedStatesWillNeverBeASocialistCountry #PrayforVenezuela#Venezuela
Maduro is a dictator. If Trump could effectively consolidate power, he'd follow in Maduro's brutal footsteps.
176 people are talking about this
Or this pithy little quip that tries to claim deceit is being truthful in the ‘observation’:
Neglecting the fact that nothing precludes a socialist nation being a dictatorship, or that this is how it usually ‘progresses’.
The fact is socialism – or one of it’s many aliases – is based upon fantastic promises of freebies paid for with other people’s money. Coercion has to be used for this property redistribution necessitating a governmental monopoly on the use of force. Other restrictions on Liberty need to be taken to keep the people in line when the fantastic promises never come true.
Thus, all of this is part and parcel of the Left’s base ideology, so that it becomes just another Leftist lie labeling socialism as something else.
Then the narratives begin attempting to cast what is Far-Left to somehow being ‘Far-right’
We presently see in this taking place almost in real-time, with the Socialist-Left attempting ‘conversion therapy’ in magically turning a socialist nation ‘Far-right’. In this case many of the comments try to smear President Trump as supposedly following the footsteps of the dictator of a socialist nation.
The lying Leftists go for the gold
Then, just for good measure after the first steps, there is the attempt at trying to sell the non-socialist country’s of Scandinavia as being examples of the ‘success’ of socialism.
As remnants of Maduro’s regime continue to kill their countrymen, I applaud the Venezuelan people fighting for their future. @POTUS has used diplomacy, sanctions, and other tools to create an opportunity for freedom to triumph over the depravity of socialism in Venezuela.
That's not real socialism in Venezuela, ala Sweden or Denmark. It's straight up cronyism in Venezuela. Exactly the same system Teump wants to install right here at home.
Stop using that dictatorship as a weak pretext for maligning the vast majority of functional socialist states

The piece finishes with buried lede of the alleged ‘debunking’ from the socialists, but we have already addressed that point.
The Takeaway
The fraudulent ideology of socialism is on it’s last legs. It should be noted that the old Soviet Union appeared to be functional up until the last few years leading to it’s complete collapse. Socialism depends upon deception and while there are many who tout its ‘charms’ the current troubles in the nation’s socialist-Left are indicative that the whole edifice is on shaky ground, soon to collapse under its own contradictions and non-functionality.
That Leftist have to go through this exercise in trying to rewrite history should tell them something. If they had a functional ideology, this ongoing effort would not be necessary. There would be no need to deceive the people on the ‘glories’ of socialism. There would be no need to constantly lie about their socialist national agenda. If they had a righteous cause and a working ideology all of their machinations would be unnecessary. But that isn’t the case, socialism can never work, no matter how many times it hasn’t been tried.
